Primary Substation "J" Project

A new Primary Substation (PSS) named as "J" is under construction to meet the future demand
A new Primary Substation (named as PSS “J”) is now under construction at No 752, Baseline Road, Colombo 09 to meet the future power demand in Colombo City. The primary and secondary voltages of this PSS is 33 kV and 11 kV respectively. This Primary Substation is directly fed from Kelanitissa Power Station. The capacity of this PSS is 32 MVA. This is the 10th Primary Substation installed in Colombo City once the project is commissioned. All these Primary Substations are interconnected by Radial and Ring Feeders to ensure an uninterrupted and reliable supply to Colombo City Consumers. Main Activities

Construction of a New 33/11 kV Primary Substation “J” consists of:
  • Execution of Agreement for the Project Site.
  • Procurements of 2x16 MVA Power Transformers.
  • 8.5 km of 33 kV, 400mm2/1c UG Cables.
  • 2xNeutral Grounding Resistors.
  • 33 kV & 11 kV GIS panels.
  • Earthing Mat Design and Earthing materials.
  • SVL, AC&DC equipment, Batteries and chargers.
  • Civil Works.
  • Transformer Fire Protection System.
  • Erection, Testing and Commissioning by CEB staff.
